Best Apps for Book Lovers

One month into 2019 and we already have a lot of books on our to-do list. If you love reading as much as we do in the Essentials team, we suggest you download these apps to help you on your reading journey for the year. We've rounded up 10 apps we think book lovers should have:

1. Amazon Kindle:

The Kindle app keeps millions of books at your fingertips. Whether you're a book reader, magazine reader or newspaper reader, the app is for every reader - and you don't have to have a Kindle to use it. Choose from four million Kindle books from the Kindle Store or enjoy popular magazines like The Economist and Reader's Digest with high-resolution color images.

2. Audio Books from Audible:

For book lovers who love to read - or for readers who are traveling on congested trains, and listening to a book, it is possible to watch your phone for 45 minutes at a time. Audiobooks have the highest selection in the audible market. Audible boasts offerings for every type of book lover.

3. Blinkist- Nonfiction Books

Blinkist is one of the best apps for book lovers who don't have time to read. Blinkist breaks down key journeys from the collection of the best nonfiction books in the world. Each entry is 15 minutes of text and audio, built to convey and teach without capture

4. Good Reads:

Good reads is a great app for book lovers who want to share their reads and find community. Leave reviews and ratings for everything you read, and see what others have to say to pick your next favorite book. Good reads recommends you new titles based on what you rate highly in the app.

5. Libby-by Over Drive:

Libby, through Overdrive, gives you access to your library card information from your public library. Libby is the best library app on the market, with an improvement over the original Overdrive app, with similar core functionality and a beautiful UI integration.

6. Comics:

Comixology is one of the only places where you can find all your favorite things in one place. There is no need to distill your comic reading experience into apps, read them all in this app. It's guided view makes it especially natural to read on phone phones and tablets and allows you to get the most out of your favorite comics.

7. Epic:

The app is specifically designed for children under the age of 12, providing access to over 10 000 children's books (including audiobooks). Although there is a monthly fee for this, the first month is free and you are not obligated to continue membership. The app supports up to four profiles per account - so all children can participate at home.

8. Marvin:

If you're looking for a customization, personalized e-reader app for your DRM-free files, Marvin's latest edition is the app for you. Now on the third iteration, Marvin can read all the DRM-free EPUB books, CBX and CBR comics. If you've been reading DRM-free books on your computer for years and are ready to take them on the go, try Marvin.
